Clean Out the Source

Odor Treatment in Greater Pittsburgh

We find what's causing the smell, clean it out, and treat the air, so your home smells clean instead of covered up.

Odor Treatment

Air fresheners only cover a smell for a while. Lasting odor control starts with finding the source, whether that's pet urine in a carpet pad, smoke film on the walls, a damp basement, or years of buildup in a home that's been closed up.

We clean the source first, then treat what's left with the right tool for the job: enzyme cleaners that break down organic odors, an ozone machine for vacant homes, and air movers and dehumidifiers to dry out damp, musty spaces. Book it on its own, or add it to a deep clean, move-out, basement cleaning, or hoarding cleanup.

Odor left behind after a cleanout?

Hoarding cleanups and long-closed homes often need odor treatment once the space is cleared. We can clear the home, deep clean it, and treat the odor with one team.

Odors we treat

Each odor has a different cause, so each one gets a different treatment. Here's how we handle the most common ones.

Pet odors

Urine, accidents, and that lingering pet smell.

  • Find accident spots in carpets, rugs, and floors
  • Saturate spots with an enzyme cleaner that breaks down urine
  • Deodorize carpets, rugs, and upholstery
  • Wash pet areas, baseboards, and crates

Smoke odors

Cigarette, cooking, and fireplace smoke.

  • Wash smoke film off walls, ceilings, trim, and doors
  • Clean cabinets, light fixtures, vents, and blinds
  • Deodorize carpets and upholstery
  • Ozone treatment once the home is empty

Musty basement odors

Damp, stale air in basements and lower levels.

  • Clean walls, floors, and surfaces where mildew smell builds up
  • Run dehumidifiers to pull moisture out of the air
  • Use air movers to dry out damp corners and floors
  • Point out leaks or moisture problems we notice

Hoarding & move-out odors

Homes that have been closed up or neglected.

  • Deep clean kitchens, bathrooms, and floors after clearing
  • Clean and deodorize fridges, trash areas, and drains
  • Enzyme treatment for organic spills and stains
  • Ozone treatment for the whole home while it's vacant

Ozone is only used in empty spaces, with no people, pets, or plants inside while it runs. We air the home out before you return. We don't do mold remediation, sewage cleanup, or biohazard and trauma cleanup. If we find any of those, we'll tell you and recommend a licensed specialist. Odors that have soaked deep into drywall or subfloors can need sealing or replacement, and we'll be honest with you if that's the case.

How it works

  1. 1

    Tell us about the smell

Let us know what the odor is, where it's strongest, and whether the home is lived in or vacant. Photos help.

  2. 2

    Find the source

We walk through the space, find what's causing the smell, and explain what treatment will work.

  3. 3

    Clean, then treat

We clean the source first, then use enzyme cleaners, ozone, air movers, or dehumidifiers depending on the odor.

  4. 4

    Air out & walkthrough

We ventilate the space, walk through it with you, and make it right if anything falls short.

Odor Treatment questions

Do you just cover up the smell?

No. We clean out the source of the odor first, then treat what's left. Covering a smell with fragrance only works until the fragrance fades.

Is ozone treatment safe?

Ozone works well, but it isn't safe to breathe while it's running. We only use it in empty spaces, with no people, pets, or plants inside, and we air the home out before anyone goes back in. For lived-in homes, we use enzyme cleaners, air movers, and dehumidifiers instead.

Can you remove pet urine smell?

In most cases, yes. Enzyme cleaners break down the compounds in urine that cause the smell. If urine has soaked deep into the carpet pad or subfloor, those materials may need to be replaced, and we'll tell you honestly if that's the case.

Do you do mold removal?

No. We clean surfaces and dry out musty spaces, but mold remediation needs a licensed specialist. If we see signs of mold, we'll point it out and recommend you get it inspected.

Can I add odor treatment to another cleaning?

Yes. Odor treatment pairs well with a deep clean, a move-out clean, basement cleaning, carpet cleaning, or a hoarding cleanup. Mention it when you request your quote.
